Congregation Beth Israel

Lebanon, Pennsylvania has had a Jewish presence since since the beginning of the 20th century, when a handful of Jews gathered in 1907 to form a minyan for the High Holidays. Today, that presence is largely represented by Congregation Beth Israel of Lebanon, a conservative synagogue serving more than 100 Jewish families.

Located in the city of Lebanon at Oak and Eighth Streets, Beth Israel Synagogue serves as a focal point for Jewish life in the Lebanon area. The synagogue building includes a 200 seat sanctuary, an adjacent Sisterhood Hall, a larger gymnasium/social hall, a library/chapel, three classrooms and a rabbi's study.

Although Beth Israel is officially a Conservative congregation affiliated with the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism, we welcome Jews of all religious backgrounds as members. An active membership supports a full-time rabbi and religious school, a Sisterhood and Men's club, and successful B'nai B'rith and Hadassah chapters. Congregants hail not only from the city of Lebanon but from nearby Lancaster and Dauphin Counties as well.
