Programs for the entire community
For over a decade, Beth Israel's Lecture series has brought a noteworthy speaker to the Lebanon area each spring. The event has featured such lecturers as Elie Weisel, Mme. Jehan Sadat, and Lawrence Eagleberger in years past, and is the focus of community-wide interest and support.
Lebanon Holocaust Education Fund
A relatively new congregational effort, the Lebanon Holocaust Education Fund has sent hundreds of students from local high schools to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C. The program is intended to include students of all religions, races and ethnicities in order to promote tolerance and understanding among today's youth.
Beth Israel has worked with other local institutions to plan and sponsor an annual week of Holocaust Remembrance events. Other participating institutions have included Lebanon Valley College, Harrisburg Area Community College (Lebanon Campus), and Myerstown Evangelical Theological Seminary.
