Preface

"Dad, my Teacher wants to know if you can come and explain about Hanukkah to my class," a question I get from my son, or "Rabbi, my child's teacher wants me to come to class to talk about Hanukkah and, I don't feel comfortable..." a request I receive from my congregants are part of every December, and they are sometimes paralleled with requests about Passover as well.

Explaining our religion to our neighbor's children and by proxy to our neighbors is something that we face as long as our children are in elementray school and sometimes longer. How to respond to those requests with confidence is the subject of Ben Slotznick's book.

Ben approaches the material with reverence for tradition, love of children and the realization of what being a Jewish parent is in today's world. It is a useful tool for every Jewish parent.
