Congregation Beth Israel

Opportunities for Worship

Each week, the sabbath is welcomed at Beth Israel with traditional worship services on both Friday evenings and Saturday mornings. Morning services are also offered several days during the week for those who wish to attend.

Women have had equal status as worshipers at our services for many years. They are counted in our minyans, and are permitted to read from the Torah and receive aliyahs.

The congregation maintains its own cemetary to meet the needs of the area's Jewish community.

The yearly cycle of Jewish holidays is celebrated here with some special traditions which enhance the meaning of the occasion for children and adults alike. Yom Kippur ends with a congregational bread-fast following Neilah services. Services on Succot frequently conclude with luncheon in our Succah. And both Chanukah and Purim are marked with festive evening celebrations.
